John J. Walsh, II is a graduate of Columbia College (BA, 1977) and Fordham Law School (JD, 1982). He worked as the Reference Librarian at Fordham Law School where he taught computerized legal research and served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association and Student Chairman of the Student/ Faculty Committee. He began his legal career at Campbell, Cunnion, O'Connor and Carlucci, house counsel for the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, where he handled general liability actions in all phases including pleadings, discovery and trials. He became associated with Boeggeman, George, Jannace and Hodges in 1987 and rose to partner in 1983. He has been a partner at Hodges, Walsh & Slater, LLP since its inception.

Mr. Walsh's professional experience includes all aspects of general civil litigation including trials in the New York State Supreme Court, in the counties of New York, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Ulster, Putnam, Dutchess, Bronx, Brooklyn, Nassau, Suffolk, Hudson, Saratoga and Schenectady. He has also handled matters in the New York State Court of Claims and in the Federal District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York. He has argued appeals in the New York State Appellate Divisions for the Second and Third Departments, as well as in the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In addition to defense of automobile and premises related personal injury actions, Mr. Walsh has handled numerous matters involving claims asserted against municipalities including constitutional violations, road defects, police misconduct and land use issues, cell tower placement, the Americans with Disabilities Act, age, sex and racial discrimination, and violations of the Clean Water Act. He has also handled construction site claims involved the New York State Labor Law, as well as products liability actions, and actions claiming asbestos exposure.

Mr. Walsh has an AV Peer Review rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Legal Directory of American Attorneys and is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Westchester County Bar Association. He has spoken on behalf of the New York State Bar Association, the Westchester County Bar Association and the Defense Association of New York on topics of including pleading in civil actions, discovery in personal injury actions, police liability and trends in municipal liability. He has also contributed case notes on Notices of Claim to the Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law Section of the Journal of the New York State Bar Association.

Mr. Walsh's primary focus of practice is municipal liability, professional liability, civil rights defense, construction law and general liability defense.

Representative clients include the Ohio Casualty Group, the City of Beacon, the Village of Ossining, the Town of Cortlandt, the Town of New Castle and the Town of Warwick.
