Harold L. Moroknek is a graduate of the State University of Binghamton (1985) and the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University (1988). He is an equity partner with Hodges, Walsh & Slater LLP.

Mr. Moroknek is admitted to practice law in the Courts of the State of New York, and he is a member of the Bars of the United States District Courts for the Southern, Northern and Eastern Districts of New York. He has taken verdicts in numerous jurisdictions throughout the state including Orange, Rockland, Dutchess, Ulster, Albany, Nassau, New York, Putnam, Westchester, Bronx and Suffolk counties, as well as in Federal District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Mr. Moroknek started his career as an Assistant District Attorney and served as a prosecutor for a number of years. In his present capacity, Mr. Moroknek serves as counsel to a varied and diverse clientele, including numerous insurance companies, municipalities and police departments in the Metropolitan area concentrating in the defense of Special Investigation Unit claims (SIU), first and third party Insurance fraud matters as well as the defense of false arrest, malicious prosecution, police brutality and civil rights claims. Mr. Moroknek also has the privilege of serving as critical incident counsel to the New York State Police Investigators Association. In his capacity as critical incident counsel, he represents the individual investigators “charged” either internally or externally with disciplinary violations or crimes.

Harold L. Moroknek, a member of the firm, was asked by the Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law Section of the New York State Bar Association to lecture as a part of the 2011 Law School for Insurance Professionals program. Mr. Moroknek lectured on 10-6-11 and on 10-12-11 to audiences of insurance professionals in Long Island and New York City on the topic entitled “Addressing Fraud in First and Third Party Claims, How to Identify, Investigate and Protect Yourself.”

Additionally, Mr. Moroknek recently provided training to the SIU department of a nationally recognized insurance company on the topic of How to conduct a “proper” examination under oath (EUO) and also recently participated in training of the members of the New York State Police Investigators Association on the issue of “Garrity” rights, appropriate investigation and insurance fraud.

Mr. Moroknek is a member of the New York State Bar Association and Defense Research Institute.
